A flute solo written for the advanced amateur or student. Influenced by the 3 "Bs" - a bit of Bach, boogie, and Balkan folk music! After a slow introction (the Mermaid on the Rocks), it moves into a livelier Bach-like section, which then syncopates into a rock or boogie rhythm. It ends with the uneven metric groove of Balkan folk music (I was in an ensemble with Albanian folk musician Raif Hyseni when I wrote this). It's all a bit Jethro Tull, really!

Some rhythmic challenges, but no weird "extended techniques," difficult leaps, or piercing upper register notes. Overall, it's meant to be FUN TO PLAY!
