From the recording Chamber Music demos
The second of my Wind in the Willows series for Flute, Harp, and Cello. This was inspired by a mystical chapter in the book, where Rat and Mole go looking for a lost otter child and encounter the pagan god Pan. The music is mostly haunting and mysterious, but at the end, is transformed into a more familiar, folky style as the characters come back to the everyday world.
While By the Riverbank was written for folk harp (in G Major tuning, with no lever flips), this movement is a bit more chromatic and requires some challenging lever changing for lever harpists!
