This trio actually started out as an idea for a rock song intro, with a Viking-metal acoustic interlude style. I was inspired to try it out for an acoustic/classical ensemble and it really worked. The "adventurers riding out on a quest" feel of the opening section gave me a start, and I added a mysterious middle section ("going into the monster's lair") and a exciting final section ("escaping with the treasure") to further the story along.
